As a general guide, your rug should be large enough to ground your furniture while still showcasing some of the floor around it. And if you’re unsure, it’s almost always better to size up, nothing makes a room feel more off balance than a rug that’s too small. Living Room Guide (Indoor & Outdoor)

For a truly elevated look, select a living room rug generous enough to accommodate your entire furniture setting, leaving a graceful 20cm border of rug revealed around the edges. This creates a sense of balance and refinement. Alternatively, position the rug beneath the front legs of your sofa and armchairs to anchor the space with understated elegance.

If you prefer a more tailored scale, opt for a smaller rug with seating arranged at equal distances for a considered, symmetrical effect. In both indoor dining rooms and outdoor entertaining spaces, a generously sized rug will always elevate the experience. Allow at least 60–70 cm of rug to extend beyond all sides of your dining table.
